Why Angora Goats you may ask? Well the story began quite some time ago, when we visited a farm whilst on holiday in the Lake District. We had a lovely walk around the farm which was situated at the foot of a mountain and saw the lovely Herdwick sheep that were kept there.
On this farm were also some Angora Goats, that I had not come across before and I was instantly smitten. I dreamt of the day when I could get my first goats, but had to find somewhere to keep them so in the meantime a lot of planning and investigation took place.
I talked to breeders and tried to glean as much information as possible and attended a Goat Keeping Course. Finally, we had the perfect location for goats and in the winter of 2014, six pregnant does (females are does and males are called bucks) arrived and their kids were born in February the following year. Now, through selective breeding numbers have increased and we are producing some lovely fleeces.
